Paco Rabanne Black Xs For Her Eau De Toilette Review

Its the turn today to review Black XS by Paco Rabanne  Eau de toilette for women. I am a sucker for fruity and floral fragrances, and citrus of course (I guess there’s no one who would dislike tangy fragrances).  Last month, I had picked up two fragrances – Issey Miyake and Paco Rabanne Black XS – both belonging to the fruity-floral classification.

Product Description:

A fragrance with many contrasts, innocent and sensual. A rock and roll style, a feminine signature in the segment of audacity. She is a stunning rebel princess who breaks the rules and habits. It’s a mysterious and sensuous fragrance.

Paco Rabanne Black XS For Her comes in a black and purple glass bottle with a rose figure embossed on the glass. Its quite a good packaging and the dark hues add to the mystery. As commonly seen in floral-fruity fragrances, the base notes are vanilla along with a woody note. Its a dark scent, a wintery scent, good for evening wear. This is quite an uncomplicated perfume with its notes clear cut, majorly fruity with a hint of spice. This fragrance will appeal only to a few, those who like deep fruity notes that hardly change. When you first spray it on, a lot of notes don’t hit you, its only the fruitiness of cranberry with a layer of spice. Its quite a heady mix though and things don’t improve much when the heart notes come along, its rose and black violet which is again sweet, but not at all appealing. The staying power of the fragrance is not that great, around 4 hours, and that’s why I cannot feel the warmth of wood or vanilla. It claims to be a fruity-floral-woody fragrance, but I don’t get much of the woody notes. The sillage is average.

Its not a day wear or office wear kind of fragrance, its a bit unsuitable for office, but its good enough for evening/party wear because of its dark, deep nature.

This one is a good option for cranberry lovers, you would get loads of it here :P Also, it does not create any aura even though it starts on notes that are a bit strong and dark.

Personally for me, the sweetness of cranberry is a bit too much and dominates all other notes and seriously, those who do not like fruity scents, will get a headache. Its not an unique scent, just a routine fruity scent. The staying power is short, and it just vanishes in a few hours. Also, since I cannot detect much the warmth of vanilla or the woods, its a no show. This is suitable for women who love overtly fruity fragrances without the balancing sharp or tangy notes.
